UUCSV’s Social Justice Mission

In early 2025 the congregation decided on a new direction for our social justice mission, which is part of our overall mission: To awaken love and justice in our lives, in our communities, and in our world.

Climate Justice – includes climate change, climate justice, pollution, recycling, lobbying, among other issues

Building Capacity – we need to learn how to adapt to our changing country and meet the moment; we want to learn from our justice ancestors as models for how we can make change and live out our values; and we want to envision what an ideal Central Susquehanna Valley might look like, keeping Love at the center.

These two broad categories will inform programming in and outside church, activism, community work, and religious growth and learning for children, youth, and adults.

Some of the social justice issue triangles we made during our Martin Luther King, Jr. Day service January 15, 2023 – in many ways the issues have not changed.
