The Rev. DC Fortune is originally from New England, where he grew up Irish Catholic and found Unitarian Universalism in the early 1990s. He graduated from seminary in 2014 and served in various roles in a handful of congregations, including in Oakland, California; Saint Louis, Missouri; and South Jersey, not far from Atlantic City, before accepting the invitation to serve at UUCSV in the summer of 2022.
Hailing from Windsor, Maine, Rev. Fortune describes himself as “a small-town kid at heart.” His previous jobs and careers include bus driver in Minneapolis, union sheet-metal worker in Maine, journalist and newspaper editor, bridge construction worker, and home repair contractor. He has been active in progressive and queer politics since the 1980s and is passionate about social justice work. For fun he enjoys making knives and swords in his home forge, as well as trout fishing in brooks and streams. He lives with “two large, young cats.”
